ARCCHS Precision Aerobatics Event and Clinic

The Event and Clinic Program

The American Radio Control Competition Helicopter Society (ARCCHS) is proud to announce a precision aerobatics Event and Clinic during Heli Ex 2024 at Triple Tree Aerodrome in Woodruff, SC.

The Event and Clinic are for pilots who want to see what precision aerobatics is all about in a no pressure environment.  Many top-level competition pilots will be available to help with coaching on topics ranging from how to set up your helicopter for contesting to how to properly execute the maneuvers, plus anything in between.

The Event and Clinic are also for pilots that have tried competition previously and want to progress in precision aerobatics.

Actual rounds can be flown in front of judges who will provide constructive feedback and suggestions for  improvement.  Plus, you’ll get to see some of the top-level pilots fly a round.

Check out the Program Schedule and use the Sign UP form if you want to be part of the fun.

What is precision aerobatics for helicopters?

The AMA Classes for precision aerobatics are Sportsman, Advanced and Expert.  Sportsman Class has several hovering maneuvers that do not include any nose in hovering and straight forward aerobatics like a stall turn, loop and roll.  Advanced Class definitely steps up the challenge to keep competitors interested in furthering their skills.  Expert Class has the pilots flying the Preliminary Schedule flown by the FAI Class so they are developing their skills as they progress.  See the rules and maneuvers for the AMA Classes at:  The AMA RC Helicopter Rules are about ½ the way down the page.

The International Level of competition is governed by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, or simply the FAI.  The FAI manages all venues, which includes Aeromodelling.  For model helicopter precision aerobatics, the FAI designation is F3C.  The F3C Class flies a Preliminary Schedule plus a Semi-Finals/Finals Schedule.  The rules for F3C can be found here:  The top document under Sporting Code is the latest version for F3C.
